At the end of last year, Huawei announced that it has got 30 5G orders worldwide, 18 of them are from European countries. Europe is entrenched in a number of large and strict Telecom operators. It is undoubtedly difficult to establish Huawei’s brand in the origin countries of capitalism, and break into the market, which has already been monopolized and divided up. But Huawei did it.

Compared with the well-known Huawei, NCCO technology seems to be unrecognized by the world, but it has been entering the city and took the air treatment project of the European Hospital Pathology Department. What is it? I will reveal it to you today.

What is NCCO?

NCCO’s full name is Nano-Confined Catalytic Oxidation Air Treatment Technology, was developed by Entrepreneurship Program’s member of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s and applied for patents in 2003. Why the polluted air in the pathology department is difficult to process?

The pathology department is an indispensable department of large hospitals. The pathology diagnosis often take patients’ organs, tissues, cells or body fluids, so as to obtain accurate data, confirm the disease and clinical experiments. Indoor air pollution in pathology is a problem that needs to be solved all over the world. The pollution source is complicated, and single air purification technology is difficult to meet the needs.

Air pollution in the pathology department is mainly from the pathological examination and the potion that is used for immersion test. The slice taken from the patient or the corpse requires a large amount of formalin to be soaked in the storage. The pathology department also uses medical chemicals such as glutaraldehyde, acetone, and ethanol solution. Many of the gas volatilized by these potions are primary carcinogens (for example, the main volatiles of formalin are formaldehyde, xylene, DAB, acetone, etc.), and potions produce a large amount of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which accumulate in the pathology department, long-term exposure can cause cancer of human cells, and there is a risk of having cancer and leukemia.

At the same time, the medical staff must endure the odor of various slices such as organs, tissues, blood, sputum specimens, and the bacteria that may be carried by these human slices, so that the health of medical staffs is seriously threatened.

Conventional air treatment equipment can only deal with part of air pollution, it is difficult to solve all the problems. Take activated carbon as an example, activated carbon can adsorb air pollutants, however, when adsorption reaches the limit, it can not continue to adsorb due to saturation, and it will also overflow pollutants, causing secondary pollution. If you want to maintain the effect, you need to change the activated carbon filter frequently. It is very difficult for the pathology department with high pollution concentration, both in terms of cost and manpower.

NCCO technology has high processing efficiency for removing VOCs, decomposing formaldehyde, deodorizing and killing bacteria in the air, and its principle is to decompose air pollutants, so there is no saturation problem, no filter element is consumed, and it does not need to be replaced for up to 12 years, helping the hospital pathology department solve a big problem.

More than 100 hospitals and pathology departments in China have used NCCO

As of today, more than 100 top hospitals in China have used NCCO products to remove VOCs (including formaldehyde), for protecting the respiratory health of doctors and patients, including the Department of Pathology of Guangzhou First People’s Hospital, Xi’an Central Hospital, the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, the Cancer Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, and the Renji Hospital of Hong Kong.

The Journal of Clinical Medicine Literature also talked about the NCCO technology. It was said in the book: “The pathology department used NCCO technology after 12 hours of closing doors, windows, air conditioners and ventilation systems.
